Media Day ÖBB cityjet

The new cityjet was presented to the public. Top ranking politicians and representatives of the industry answered the questions of reporters.

Fast and more comfortable: in December 2015 the new and modern cityjet of OEBB will start its operation within Austria. I norder to guarantee reliability and security at any weather the set of coaches had been tested under rain snow and ice in the climatic wind tunnel.

The Desiro ML is very comfortable by adjustable seats with arm and foot rests as well as balanced LED-lights, live information displays and roller blinds.

The minister of infrastructure, Alois Stöger (2nd left) emphases the development of security standards within the public transport. Deputy mayor Renate Brauner (3rd left) pointed our the extensions of the infrastructure in order to serve commuters.

niessl wolfram 180x112   The ÖBB ordered 101 sets of the Cityjet. 31 for commuting between Vienna and Lower Austria, 35 for the regional line within Lower Austria, 18 for the regional line within Styria and another 17 for the regional line within Upper Austria. The Burgenland also thinks about purchasing such trains (left: Hans Niessl, govenor of Burgenland).
     

Right after the presentation the cityjet could be visited during live testing in the climatic wind tunnel.
