22.4.2010 Vienna Daughter‘s Day 2010

On 22 April 2010, RTA took part in Vienna Daughter’s Day, which was held for the ninth time this year in collaboration with the Vienna Chamber of Commerce and the Vienna School Council. The event is committed to equal career and income opportunity.

Girls between the ages of 11 and 16 will get to know companies from various industries, with a focus on trade, engineering and science. RTA supports this campaign in order to spark girls’ interest in technology.

“The Daughter’s Day is designed to make young women aware of future-oriented training opportunities of non-traditional vocations, which are often better paid”, explains Women’s City Councillor Sandra Frauenberger. “Women are important in all sectors, not just in traditional women’s jobs”, says Brigitte Jank, president of the Vienna Chamber of Commerce. “Future-oriented companies recognise the creative and ambitious potential of girls as tomorrow’s specialists. With the Daughter’s Day we are hoping to show young girls, who continue to adhere to the traditional female roles, the wealth of opportunities offered in the working world. And this has been a success: over the past few years, the percentage of female apprentices in traditional male domains has slowly but steadily risen.”
