NordWestBahn, a German rail operator based in Osnabrück, will run the first trains of the TALENT type on the Ems-Senne-Weser network and the Haller Willem route in December 2003. The 25 two- and three-car diesel trainsets will provide passengers on regional lines with a new level of comfort. The trains are equipped with everything from hot beverage vending machines to a state-of-the-art sound system to make the train journey a more convenient and pleasant experience. Needless to say, air conditioning and dehumidification can be taken for granted.
A three-car unit was put to the test in the climatic wind tunnel in October 2003 in order to guarantee optimal comfort right from the start. “Siberian” conditions by the standards of the German climate proved to be no problem at all for the TALENT railcar - after night temperatures of –20°C, light snow flurry and 12 km/h wind, the unit started without trouble and created a snug and warm atmosphere for the passengers.
