Rail Tec Arsenal is an internationally active independent research and testing institute for rail and road vehicles, new transport systems and technical facilities that are subject to extreme climatic conditions.

As an internationally recognised expert in climatic testing, Rail Tec Arsenal operates two modern climatic wind tunnels designed to optimise thermal comfort in public transport vehicles and to investigate and improve the availability and safety of systems in sensitive industrial areas.

Rail Tec Arsenal, the operating company of the Vienna Climatic Wind Tunnel, was founded by the most renowned European rail vehicle manufacturers (Alstom Transport, Bombardier Transportation, Siemens Transportation Systems, AnsaldoBreda, Firema Trasporti) and by arsenal research (Österreichisches Forschungs- und Prüfzentrum Arsenal GmbH).

The company‘s purpose is to operate the Vienna Climatic Wind Tunnel in such a way as to safeguard the facilities and specific expertise necessary for the performance of climatic tests on a long-term basis.

The mission of Rail Tec Arsenal is the international marketing and break-even operation of the Vienna Climatic Wind Tunnel.
